Mount Norman Hike

Holding sway as the highest peak in Girraween National Park is Mount Norman, a granite monolith offers breathtaking views and a rewarding challenge for hikers. Please note: The track does not reach the 1267m summit, as it is suitable for only for rock climbers.  Nevertheless, this one is a must-do for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Just 5.5 km from Jennings, you can start out at the Girraween visitor information building then pass through eucalypt forest and the famous Castle Rock. There are views of the Eye of the Needle on Mount Norman’s northern face before you reaching the base of the Mount Norman monolith.

Alternatively, there is a 4km from the Mount Norman day-use area through stands of Wallangarra white gums and remarkable rock formations before heading up the mountain’s southern face.
