Wine & Wilderness Trail
With it’s sunny days, cool nights and elevation, the New England region is perfectly suited for growing cool-climate grapes. You can find your favourite classic reds and whites, with some Italian and Spanish varieties (Tempranillo, Barbera, and Tannat) making an appearance at some cellar doors. Make a leisurely day of it with a drive visiting local cellar doors, farmgate stalls, and walking tracks. Start at Tenterfield’s own award-winning Stonefruit, head west out of town towards Reedy Creek Estate, then continue to explore Sundown National Park, just over the border in Queensland (4WD recommended). Alternatively, use Jennings and Wallangara as your gateway to granite belt wineries in Queensland. For something a little different, swing down to Torrington and visit 2 Wild Souls Meadery.
