Bald Rock National Park
Just 30km northeast of Tenterfield, Bald Rock National Park is home to Australia’s largest granite monolith and offers a one-of-a-kind nature escape. Climb to the top of the 1300m-high Bald Rock for 360° views across the New England wilderness, explore forests blooming with wildflowers, and discover ancient Aboriginal meeting grounds. There are picnic spots, bush camping, and trails to suit every pace.

Camping
Stay the night under a canopy of stars with the sound of rustling gums and wildlife nearby. The bush campground at Bald Rock offers shady sites near the base of the rock, with BBQs, picnic tables, pit toilets, fire pits, and non-potable tank water. Sites are unpowered and suitable for tents or small campervans. Bookings are recommended during peak seasons via National Parks NSW. Fire restrictions may apply — check local alerts before lighting fires.

Bald Rock Summit Loop
3.2km loop · 1–2 hrs · Moderate–Hard
Two options: hike the gentle Bungoona Track through boulders and bushland, or take the Rockface Route for a steep climb straight up the face. At the top are panoramic views and the iconic Granite Titans.
Little Bald Rock Walk
6.5km return · 3–4 hrs · Moderate
Walk through forests of mountain gum and granite outcrops to reach a smaller dome with epic views over the border into Girraween National Park.
Border Walk
13km loop · 5–6 hrs · Moderate–Hard
Circle through creeks, swamps, and woodlands to reach a quiet lookout with a stunning profile view of Bald Rock. Best walked at dawn or dusk.
