Tooloom National Park

Nestled between dry forests and farmland, Tooloom National Park protects the lush subtropical rainforest of Tooloom Scrub, part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. The park is rich in Aboriginal cultural heritage, home to the Githabul people, and a haven for wildlife including red-necked pademelons, paradise riflebirds, and the endangered Coxen’s fig-parrot.

• Getting there: From Mount Lindesay Highway, turn onto Tooloom Road (approx. 20km to picnic area). From Urbenville, follow Tooloom Road toward Legume (approx. 17km to picnic area).
• Park entry fee: Free
• Facilities: Toilet, picnic tables, BBQ facilities (BYO wood), carpark, disabled access
• Access: Sealed road access via Tooloom Road

Camping

Tooloom National Park does not have any designated camping areas and is best suited for day visits. Excellent facilities at the Tooloom Picnic Area include toilets, BBQs, and walking access to both the Tooloom Walking Track and Tooloom Lookout. For overnight stays, Urbenville and nearby towns offer accommodation and camping options.

Tooloom Walking Track

A gentle rainforest walk rich in birdlife and biodiversity. Stroll beneath towering strangler figs and red cedars while listening for the rare Coxen’s fig-parrot or the resonant call of the wompoo fruit-dove.

Tooloom Lookout Walk

Approx. 200m one way · 10–15 mins · Easy
From the picnic area, follow an easy path through tall eucalypts to a scenic lookout with sweeping views over Tooloom Scrub and westward to the Great Dividing Range. Watch for wallabies, dragons, and the rich plant life along the way.
